Duarte Salazar Duo
Since 2011, the Duarte-Salazar Guitar Duo has been delighting audiences in Europe and South America with a unique combination of refinement, power and virtuosity.
Mariana Duarte (Portugal) and Emerson Salazar (Chile) met in Austria in 2007, where they respectively obtained their Master Degrees at the Mozarteum University Salzburg under the instruction of renowned guitarists Eliot Fisk and Ricardo Gallén.
Besides their solo careers, recognised through numerous awards and international performances, their common search for a powerful sound and quest for new and challenging repertoires led to an unusual and charismatic guitar duo.
The Duarte-Salazar Duo is currently promoting their new project “Danzas de Fuego”, a brilliant collection of dances where listeners are invited to embark on a journey from Spain to Argentina. This musical programme embraces their cultural roots and features emblematic compositions by Enrique Granados, Astor Piazzolla, as well as their own transcriptions of works by Manuel de Falla and Alberto Ginastera.
The CD “Danzas de Fuego” was released in November 2015.
Mariana Duarte and Emerson Salazar currently live in Munich, Germany, where they combine their artistic careers with their educational activities.
